A Journey Around Australia
We live in a vast country which many families take time out to explore.
In this unit of work which is based on Alison Lester's book "Are we there yet?" your students will be able to discover more about this country, working with technology to discover information about different places and present their findings.
The unit involves both individual and group work and integrates learning outcomes across mathematics, english, technology and enterprise and society and the environment learning areas.
I would suggest that this topic begins with an introduction to the book focusing on the use of visual literacy through viewing skills to investigate how the book is organised, and how the illustrations within the book relate to the text.
There is also an Audio CD package which relates to the book and includes postcards, car games and a map. This might be a useful resource to support children in their learning.
